You know the one. The game stutters, freezes, then boots you to login —
and sometimes you couldn't even get back in, it just told you that you
were already online.
Here's what was going on. When you logged out, the server sometimes failed
to properly let go of you. You'd stay stuck in the world as a ghost. Every
stuck player made the server a bit heavier, which made the next logout
more likely to get stuck too — so it snowballed until everything crawled
and people started getting dropped.
That's fixed. Logging out now always releases you, even if something goes
wrong on the way out. No more ghosts piling up, no more snowball.
Nine hours up since the last restart with no stutters and nobody dropped.
